Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow, finally coming to DVD
One of the most requested, and most rumored Disney title yet to see a DVD release is "Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow," which first aired as three separate episodes on Disney's weekly TV show under the title "The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh." Originally scheduled to be released on DVD in August, 2004, Dr. Syn strangely never materialized, leaving many to wonder if this title would ever see a DVD release. Well, fans are finally getting what they want on November 11th, 2008 when Disney will release a 2 Disc Disney Treasures set of Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow. The DVD set will include all 3 of the original TV episodes, and will also include a theatrical version of the film that was released in England. The DVD set will also feature rarely seen footage presented with updated color and sound, and will be hosted by noted film historian, author and critic Leonard Maltin.
